Old stitch

It has remote origins, around the end of 14th century. It consists of a complex of different embroidery stitches that form distinctive drawings, usually geometric. It is performed with the method of the counted threads and includes the Royal stitch, the “Quadro” stitch and the “Gigliuccio”.

This stitch is also called “Old Tuscan” since the production of the Old stitch embroidery is an ancient local tradition.
